Club Nights at Brighton Backgammon

Since the start of 2025, the club has been meeting regularly at the Fitz Regent Pub in central Brighton.

Our club evenings are relaxed and sociable, with a mix of friendly games, league matches, and the occasional chouette. While most sessions are informal, we also run special events—typically held on the last Tuesday of each month—which may include mini-tournaments, themed nights, or other fun formats.

We warmly welcome players of all abilities, from complete novices to seasoned grandmasters. There’s no need to book or announce—just pop in and say hello. At present, there’s no fee to join or play at the club. All we ask is that you buy a drink from the bar to help support our continued use of the venue. Members also receive a discount on selected drinks, so be sure to mention you're with the backgammon club.

New members will be introduced to our club rules and the version of backgammon we follow. We generally adhere to the official UKBGF (UK Backgammon Federation) rules, which you can read here: UKBGF Rules.

We aim to ensure there's always someone available to play, though you may occasionally need to wait for a game or match to finish. Boards are available for use on the night, so you don’t need to bring your own unless you prefer to.
